Primus:

Wikipedia:
Primus is an American rock band based in San Francisco, California, currently composed of bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander. Primus originally formed in 1984 with Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth, later joined by drummer Jay Lane, though the latter two departed the band at the end of 1988. Featuring LaLonde and Alexander, Primus recorded their debut Suck on This in 1989, followed by four studio albums: Frizzle Fry, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, Pork Soda, and Tales from the Punchbowl. Alexander left the band in 1996, replaced by Bryan "Brain" Mantia, and Primus went on to record the original theme song for the TV show South Park and two more albums, Brown Album and Antipop, before declaring a hiatus in 2000.
In 2003, Claypool and LaLonde reunited with Alexander and released a DVD/EP, Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People, before touring sporadically through 2009. In 2010, Lane rejoined Primus, replacing Alexander, and the band released their seventh album, Green Naugahyde, in 2011. In 2013, Lane left the band to focus on other projects, and Tim Alexander rejoined once again. They have released some of their records on Claypool's own label Prawn Song Records. Primus is characterized by its irreverent, quirky approach to music. Robert Christgau once remarked: "[Primus is] quite possibly the strangest top-10 band ever, and good for them."

The Desaturating Seven:

Wikipedia:
The Desaturating Seven is the ninth studio album by American rock group Primus, released on September 29, 2017. It is the band's first album of original material since 2011's Green Naugahyde, and is the first LP featuring original material with drummer Tim Alexander since 1995's Tales from the Punchbowl.

AllMusic Review by Neil Z. Yeung:
Never ones to shy away from a quirky concept, prog-funk trio Primus found inspiration in Italian author Ul de Rico's children's book The Rainbow Goblins, and twisted it into something only Primus could create. The second consecutive album based on a children's story, The Desaturating Seven tells the sonic tale of a septet of greedy, color-eating goblins who terrorize their fictional world by sucking the color out of rainbows. The album's seven tracks chart their nefarious expedition to the Valley of Rainbows, a paradise untouched by the hungry creatures. From the creepy introduction "The Valley" to the brief closer "The Ends?," the album is not suited for a casual listen, instead demanding listeners get lost in the weirdness and enjoy the ride. At points, it's a challenge. The nearly eight-minute "The Trek" is indeed a trek in itself, while the mostly instrumental "The Dream" tests the limits of patience. While sometimes silly, if taken as a whole it's a trippy and altogether loony experience. Highlights include "The Seven," which introduces the titular goblins with an irresistible groove; "The Scheme," the catchy closer for side A that most closely resembles a traditionally pop-structured song; and "The Storm," the album's heaviest moment, marking the Seven's ultimate demise. Les Claypool's trademark vocals and lurching bass mark this as an unmistakable Primus creation, so fans should appreciate this addition to their collections. Otherwise, The Desaturating Seven is unlikely to attract new fans. Typically eccentric, it's an interesting exercise, although nonessential outside the sphere of Primus/Claypool devotees.
